This Lenovo Yoga 2 13 comes with a Lite 128GB NGFF SSD.
Hi, do you have any idea where SDRAM slot is ?
Thanks a lot for your answer.
the ram is soldered to the motherboard, Lenovo Yoga 2 13 no spare ram slot, so you can not upgrade the ram
I looked forever for this, so now it makes sense. Sucks it cannot be upgraded. Really sucks.
what parts do I need ( cables ) to place an samsung 840 ssd in the empty hhd bay
Is the connector for the HD present? I’m looking to add a Samsung 840 Pro SSD to the notebook but can’t tell if there is a SATA connector on there. In one of the pictures, I do see a black connector but can not tell if its a SATA connection.
its a SATA connector
Is it? I’m not really sure about that. When I opened mine to add a SSD I noticed that the connector is an m.2 and not a msata (unfortunately they are different) and the HD had a strange connector. Smaller compared to the sata connector. You might want to check this before buy any stuff.
Thanks Chris.
I should be receiving the Y2 in a few days. I’m going to try to install a 2.5″ Samsung SSD HD (7mm height) in the area where the HD goes. Hopefully, it will fit as I’ve read the the OEM drive is a 5mm height. I’m hoping there is enough room to put the back on after.
Will let you know how it goes!
Thanks for you help.
Hi Liam,
I am considering doing the same and was wondering if you had success?
I read on the forum linked below that this man was successful (he just had to scrape off the foam and wasn’t able to put in one of the screws).
Link: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Yoga-Flex-Laptops-and/Yoga-2-13-model-5940801-256SSD-add-HDD-or-SSD/td-p/1599366/page/2
Just want to follow up on this with my experience.
I Y2 that I got was the 128 SSD version without the hard drive. Upon opening it up, the SSD was the new form factor (NGFF version) and can be upgraded. I wanted to add my samsung 840 pro into this where the normal HD would be. While there was space for this, there IS NOT any SATA connection (ribbon missing). I also tried looking online for a SATA connector with the ribbon but was unable to find that part.
With my internet search, I found an article where someone outside of the US that was able to add the HD size SSD into their Y2 notebook but I was unable to find the right part for mine.
So to close it out, if you get the SSD version only, you will only be able to upgrade the hard drive by replace the NGFF SSD with a bigger version. You won’t be able to add a HD form factor SSD such as the Samsung 840 Pro.
Hope this helps everyone out.

Hi, which model do you have there, because I want to add a second SSD, and I´m not sure if it has a SATA port at the empty HDD tray. Can i do this with this machine : Lenovo Yoga 2 13, Intel i3 4030, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD (LGT-256-M6G, I think it will be a M2 SSD)
its no spare mSATA port
does this m.2 slot support nvme?
