In this guide. I’ll disassemble a Lenovo IdeaPad Y480 in order to replace the cooling fan, I also remove the RAM, keyboard, palm rest, optical drive, hard drive, wireless card, heat sink and motherboard.
Turn off your laptop and remove the battery.
Remove two screws securing the service cover.
Remove the service cover.

Now you can find the hard drive, RAM and wireless card.
Remove two screws securing the hard drive.
Remove all screws from the bottom case.
Pull out the optical drive.
Lift up the keyboard.
Note: The keyboard cable still connecting the motherboard.
Disconnect the keyboard cable.
The keyboard has been removed.

Remove all the screws securing the palm rest.
Disconnect all cables connecting to the motherboard. Remove the palm rest.
