In this guide, I’ll disassemble the Lenovo IdeaPad S400. I will remove the RAM, hard drive, wireless card, speakers, heat sink, cooling fan and motherboard.
Turn off your laptop. Unlock and remove the battery.
Lenovo IdeaPad S400 using a 14.8V, 32Wh, 2200mAh Li-ion battery.
Remove twelve screws from the bottom case. There are four screws hidden under the plastic caps.
Now pry up the bottom case with a crowbar.
The bottom case has been removed.
You can get access to the hard drive, RAM, wireless card, SSD, speakers, heat sink and cooling fan.
Remove two screws securing the hard drive.
Remove the hard drive by the arrow. Lenovo IdeaPad S400 comes with a Seagate 500GB hard drive.
Remove the RAM.
The Lenovo IdeaPad S400 features a ELPIDA 2GB memory, you can upgrade to 4GB.
Remove two screws and disconnect one cable connecting to the motherboard.
Remove the USB board.
Disconnect two antenna cables.
Remove one screw, you can remove the wireless card.
Remove one screw, you can remove the SSD.
Remove eight screws securing the heat sink and cooling fan, you can remove the heat sink.
The cooling fan come from SUNON.
Remove two screws securing the left speaker.
Disconnect the cable. You can remove the speaker, you also need to remove the right speaker.
Disconnect the dc power jack cable. You can remove the dc power jack.
Disconnect this cable and remove two screws. You can remove this board.
Remove seven screws securing the motherboard. Lift up the motherboard.
In order to remove the motherboard, we need to disconnect keyboard cable, touchpad cable and another cable.
