Remove the service cover. You can see the RAM, wireless card, hard drive and cooling fan.
Here is the Dell Latitude E6540’s spare mSATA slot.

Insert new SSD into the mSATA slot and tighten the screws.
Dell Latitude E6540 also has a spare RAM slot, so you can install a new RAM.
