Dell Inspiron M5010 Disassembly

In this guide, I’ll explain how to disassemble Dell Inspiron M5010 to remove and replace the battery, keyboard, palm rest, hard drive, wireless card, memory, cooling fan and motherboard.

Make sure the laptop is turned off. Unlock and remove the main battery. Remove the memory cover.

Separate the clips.
Remove the memory.

Remove one screw securing the dvd drive.

Pull out the dvd drive.

Remove all screws from the bottom case.

Remove one screws securing the keyboard.

Pry up the keyboard.

Now you can see the keyboard cable, unplug the cable.

Disconnect three cables from the motherboard.

Disconnect touchpad cable.

Remove five screws securing the palm rest.

Pry up the palm rest with a pry bar.

Remove the palm rest.

Remove the hard drive.

Disconnect the LCD cable from the motherboard.

Remove two screws securing the motherboard.

Remove four screws securing the heat sink, you can remove it.
