In this guide, I’ll be taking apart an Acer Aspire 4830TG laptop in order to access and replace the cooling fan.
Before you start, make sure the laptop is turned off.
Remove one screw securing the optical drive.
Pull the optical drive out of the laptop.
The Acer Aspire 4830TG comes with a HL-DT-ST GU40N optical drive.
Remove twelve screws from the bottom case.
Remove the service cover.
Remove the screws securing the palm rest assembly.
Under the service cover, you can get access to the hard drive module, two RAM modules and wireless card.
Pry up the palm rest, the palm rest has cable still connected to the motherboard, disconnect the cable from motherboard.
Disconnect three cables. The palm rest can be removed.
When the top cover was removed, you can get access to the cooling fan.
Remove four screws securing the fan assembly.
Lift up and remove the fan. Now you can clean up the cooling fan.
